• Found in stool.
• Generally inhabits the intestinal veins, although may infect other areas.
• Involvement with the liver and spleen during the chronic phase.
• The egg possesses a lateral spine
• Usually seen with a ciliated embryo, a miracidium.
• Geographical distribution is South America and central Africa.
